Putin urges government to boost efficiency in defence, security matters
Russian President Vladimir Putin has urged his administration that efficiency relating to defence and security matters has to improve for the country's sovereignty to be strengthened.
The head of state announced this need during a meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects on August 19, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
“I would once again like to emphasise that we need to strengthen the country’s sovereignty and improve efficiency both in the areas of defence and security and [...] in the socio-economic sphere,” the Russian president said.
According to Putin, the government is already implementing a plan for structural changes to the economy, with priority given to developing the labour market, the creation of jobs that require modern skills, as well as the increasing of output levels in sectors that boost high added value.
The president stressed that the focus should be on the qualitative and intensive development of the Russian economy.
