Qatar condemns Iran’s attempts to drag region into new escalation
Qatar has condemned what it described as Iran’s attempts to draw regional countries into a new escalation amid tensions between the Islamic Republic and third parties.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majid bin Mohammed Al Ansari said his country rejects such attempts by Iran, Caliber.Az reports, citing Arab TV’s Telegram channel.
“We reject Iran’s attempts to drag the countries of the region into an escalation every time it is attacked by a third party,” Al Ansari noted.
In his words, there was currently no new information on talks between Tehran and Washington.
He further stressed that the Gulf states are fully coordinating efforts to counter various scenarios of escalation, and Qatar’s armed forces are ready to repel any attacks.
Al Ansari separately accused Iran of violating international law by closing the Strait of Hormuz, adding the move restricts freedom of navigation.
