Rescue helicopter crash in Iran leaves two dead
A rescue helicopter belonging to the Iranian Red Crescent Society crashed in Lorestan Province on October 3, killing at least two people, according to Iranian officials.
Ali Mohammadi, caretaker director-general of the Lorestan Red Crescent, told state television that the aircraft had been dispatched from neighbouring Kermanshah Province to assist in locating a missing woman in a mountainous area of Azna County, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
The helicopter reportedly went down while attempting to land. The pilot was killed, and several other members of the rescue team sustained injuries.
Local authorities said that four crew members and five rescuers were on board at the time of the crash. Additional rescue teams — around 10 in total — were later deployed to the crash site.
