Retired colonel Macgregor sounds alarm over US munition supply to Israel “This is the path to Armageddon”
Retired Colonel Douglas Macgregor has raised concerns on X over the US decision to supply the Netanyahu government with the Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB) munition, which he warns has the destructive power of a 10-kiloton nuclear weapon.
Speaking critically of the decision, Macgregor warned it could trigger a regional war, uniting all Islamic states against Israel and the United States, Caliber.Az reports.
"If this is in fact true, turning over the MOAB Munition... to the Netanyahu Government for potential use against Palestinian Arabs effectively guarantees a regional war that unites all the Islamic States against Israel and the United States," Macgregor said.
He continued, emphasizing the broader ramifications for the U.S. and its people: "Washington is not merely enabling mass murder with this weapon, Washington is now incriminating the American People as mass murderers."
Macgregor also forecasted that the global response could involve not only Russia and China but a broader coalition of nations, warning of a scenario where most of the world’s nations would side with Islamic states in their determination to defeat Israel.
"This is the path to Armageddon," he added, signalling a catastrophic escalation that could reshape the geopolitical landscape.
Note that, Steve Witkoff, the US special representative for the Middle East, confirmed that the Pentagon will supply Israel with 11-ton MOAB bombs, also known as the “Mother of All Bombs”. This announcement marks a major shift in US policy, as the bombs are capable of destroying deep underground facilities, including those linked to Iran's nuclear weapons production.
The decision comes after years of Israeli requests for the MOABs, dating back to the early 2000s. Previous US administrations, including those of George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden, had denied such requests. However, with the growing concern over Iran’s nuclear programme, the US has now signalled its readiness to directly support Israeli military actions.
Israel plans to use the MOABs to target Iran’s underground uranium enrichment sites, which are pivotal to Iran's nuclear ambitions. Analysts have warned that, should these sites remain intact, Iran could potentially become the world’s tenth nuclear power this year.
In a related development, President Trump revealed that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards had reportedly plotted an assassination against him, issuing a stark warning: "If they do something like that, they will be destroyed."
