Romanian defence minister rules out sending troops to Ukraine
Romanian National Defence Minister Angel Tilvar has confirmed that Bucharest has no intention of deploying troops to Ukraine amidst the ongoing conflict with Russia.
Speaking after the meeting of the "coalition of the willing" in Brussels, Tilvar emphasized that Romania’s position remains firmly against direct military involvement in Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
According to a statement released by the Romanian Ministry of Defence, Tilvar stated, "Romania is not considering the possibility of introducing troops into the territory of Ukraine."
However, he clarified that Romania is exploring alternative ways to contribute, particularly in providing logistical support to international forces engaged in post-conflict security operations.
Tilvar also underscored the importance of ensuring maritime security and the freedom of navigation as key components of any future peace agreement. He pointed out that Romania sees these issues as critical for regional stability and peace, particularly in the context of securing safe passage through vital maritime routes.
