Rosatom moves staff out of Iran’s nuclear plant following attacks
Russian specialists have been evacuated from Iran’s Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, with their onward flight scheduled from Yerevan Airport, Alexey Likhachev, head of Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom, said, according to Russian media.
The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) stated that the Bushehr facility came under strikes by US and Israeli forces, resulting in the death of one employee.
Likhachev said the main evacuation of Russian personnel began on April 4, about 20 minutes after the attack on the plant. Buses carrying 198 specialists departed for the Iran-Armenia border.
“Coordination with the Armenian government has traditionally been very smooth for us, as our colleagues plan to leave the region from Yerevan Airport,” Likhachev added.
