Russia accuses West of destabilising situation in Armenia
Spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova has said that the increase in financial assistance to Armenia from the US Agency for International Development (USAID) underscores the destabilising nature of Western countries’ activities in the country.
"It is impossible to overlook these facts, trends, and the experience of neighbouring countries and others around the world where similar experiments have already been conducted," Zakharova said during a weekly briefing, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
"This can be avoided by those who pursue a nationally oriented policy, who understand history, and who act in line with national interests—those who are not merely opportunists or PR agents in politics, but statesmen who genuinely care about their country and its people," she noted.
USAID has decided to more than double its financial assistance to Armenia, increasing it from $120 million to $250 million.
