Russia adds anti-drone guns to equipment list for postal workers

The Russian government has added anti-drone guns to the list of service and civilian weapons and specialised equipment that may be provided to postal employees, according to a government document reviewed by TASS.

The list of protective equipment available to postal workers has been expanded in response to threats associated with the use of unmanned systems. It now also includes specialised equipment for “countering unmanned aircraft, underwater and surface vessels and craft, unmanned vehicles and other automated unmanned systems.”

The existing list includes 9-millimetre pistols, non-lethal weapons, stun guns, bulletproof vests and other protective equipment. Firearms are provided, among others, to employees responsible for transporting cash.

The types of weapons and equipment issued to postal employees depend on their duties, including the protection of post offices and the escorting of cash shipments, while the government also sets standards governing the ammunition allocated for weapons training.
