Russia places blogger Yury Dud on terrorist and extremist list

Journalist and blogger Yury Dud has been added to Russia’s list of terrorists and extremists maintained by the Federal Financial Monitoring Service (Rosfinmonitoring), according to Russian media.

Dud was designated a foreign agent by Russia’s Justice Ministry in 2022.

He was arrested in absentia and placed on an interstate wanted list after a criminal case was opened against him based on materials from an investigation by the Moscow Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the investigation, 39-year-old Dud was fined twice within a year for violating the rules governing the activities of foreign agents under Part 4 of Article 19.34 of Russia’s Code of Administrative Offences. Despite the penalties, he continued distributing materials on a messaging platform without the required foreign-agent label, in violation of Russian law.

In 2024, Dud stopped using the foreign-agent designation on his YouTube channel.
