Russia appoints new ground forces chief of staff

Colonel General Alexander Lapin has been appointed Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces of the Russian Armed Forces, RBC reports, citing a source in the Russian Defence Ministry.

There is no information so far on which date Lapin took office and when the appointment took place.

At the moment, there is no official information from the Defence Ministry on the general's appointment to the new position.
