Russia, Bahrain call for end to US-Iran hostilities, protection of civilians
Russia and Bahrain have called for an immediate end to hostilities between the United States and Iran and stressed that attacks on civilian targets are unacceptable, following talks in Moscow.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Borisenko met Bahrain's Ambassador to Russia, Dr Ahmed al-Saati, at the ambassador's request, Caliber.Az reports via the Russian ministry.
According to the ministry, the two sides exchanged views on the security situation in the Persian Gulf amid the ongoing exchange of strikes between the United States and Iran.
The ministry said both officials underscored that attacks on civilian targets were unacceptable and highlighted the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities.
They also stressed the importance of resuming negotiations as soon as possible on the basis of the Islamabad Memorandum signed on June 17, the ministry added.
