Russia bans deportation of foreign nationals who served in armed forces
The Federation Council has approved a law banning the deportation of foreign nationals who took part in combat operations in the Russian Armed Forces (Armed Forces of the Russian Federation).
The legislation applies to foreign citizens and stateless persons who have served or are currently serving under contract, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
In addition, authorities are prohibited from refusing them temporary residence permits, residence permits, or work permits, and previously issued documents cannot be annulled.
The document also stipulates that all deportation orders issued since February 24, 2022, as well as decisions to shorten temporary stays, deny documentation, or revoke permits for foreign nationals who served under contract, will not be enforced.
According to the law, these decisions are now considered void.
