Russia calls Navalny frog-poison claims Western disinformation
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova dismissed claims that blogger Alexei Navalny was poisoned with a frog-derived toxin as Western disinformation.
“There will be test results, there will be chemical formulas — then there will be a comment,” she said, stressing that without such evidence, all statements and discussions are merely an information stunt aimed at diverting attention from pressing issues in the West, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
On February 14, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Sweden, and France issued a joint statement claiming that Navalny was allegedly poisoned with epibatidine, a toxin extracted from the skin of Ecuadorian tree frogs.
The statement was based on analyses of Navalny’s biological samples, with the countries accusing Russia of allegedly violating the Chemical Weapons Convention.
