Russia claims over 66 Ukrainian drones shot down overnight

Russia’s defence ministry says its air defence systems destroyed 66 Ukrainian drones during the night, between 23:00 on January 7 and 07:00 on January 8.

In a statement, the ministry said 14 drones were shot down over Crimea. A further 13 were intercepted over the Sea of Azov and 12 over the Black Sea.

According to the ministry, 11 drones were downed over Russia’s Krasnodar region and six over Rostov region.

Five more were intercepted over Oryol region, while two drones each were shot down over Kursk and Volgograd regions. One drone was reportedly destroyed over Bryansk region.
