Russia claims UK, France planning to supply Ukraine with nuclear weapons

Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has alleged that the United Kingdom and France are considering providing Ukraine with nuclear or so-called “dirty” bombs, according to a press release issued by the agency.

The SVR stated that, based on its information, London and Paris perceive that Ukraine’s current military situation leaves them little chance of defeating Russia through conventional means, Caliber.Az quotes the press release.

Russian intelligence claimed that British and French elites are unwilling to accept defeat and reportedly view nuclear weapons as a “wunderwaffe” that could help Kyiv secure more favourable terms in any negotiations to end the conflict. The statement noted that Germany, according to Russian intelligence, has refused to participate in what it described as a “dangerous adventure.”

The press release further alleged that the UK and France are actively working on logistics and technical issues related to the potential transfer of nuclear components and delivery systems to Ukraine, including a possible French TN75 warhead from the M51.1 submarine-launched ballistic missile.

The SVR warned that, if true, such actions would constitute a violation of international law, particularly the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, and could undermine the global non-proliferation framework. Russian intelligence claimed that efforts by London and Paris would focus on making any nuclear weapons in Ukraine appear as though they were developed domestically.

The statement also suggested that there are officials in military, political, and diplomatic circles in the UK and France who reportedly understand the potential dangers of such plans and the risks of global repercussions.
