Russia demands global condemnation of Ukraine strikes, warns of “complicity”

Russia has called on the international community and relevant organizations to strongly condemn what Moscow described as Ukrainian attacks on the Russian cities of Belgorod and Nizhnekamsk.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned that failure to respond to the strikes would be viewed by Moscow as tacit support for further attacks.

“We strongly condemn Kyiv’s latest attacks. We call on representatives of the international community, relevant international organizations and independent media to strongly condemn Kyiv’s actions. We will regard silence as complicity and encouragement of new attacks on Russia’s civilian population,” Zakharova said.

The statement followed a drone attack on Tatarstan on August 10 morning. Authorities said both industrial and civilian facilities were targeted.

The attack left 13 people dead, while more than 70 others sought medical assistance and 21 were hospitalized. Tatarstan has declared a period of mourning for those killed.

Meanwhile, Russian authorities said overnight Ukrainian attacks on Belgorod on August 9 killed five people and injured 25 others.

The strikes damaged 29 apartment buildings, two of which caught fire, as well as three administrative buildings, three social facilities and six commercial properties.

Five private homes were also damaged, with one completely destroyed by fire. Authorities reported damage to 33 vehicles.
