Russia detains diplomat’s daughter over family murder case
In Russia, the daughter of diplomat Viktor Beletsky, Valeria Beletskaya, and her husband, Aleksandr Kuzmin, have been detained in connection with the killing of her mother and brothers.
The motive for the attack may have been related to inheritance, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Rimma Beletskaya and her two sons, aged 10 and 12, disappeared in 2013. The family’s lawyer, Rolan Eminov, noted early in the investigation that the woman’s eldest daughter displayed suspicious behaviour, allegedly showing little concern over the disappearance of her mother and brothers.
Valeria claimed they had gone into hiding and insisted that her mother had contacted her after the disappearance, though no evidence supported this.
Eminov was unable to reach Rimma and began gathering information. It emerged that the children had not attended the September 1 school line-up and were absent from school at the end of the year.
The investigation into the mother and children’s disappearance began only in September, four months after they went missing.
However, the case was initially suspended, with authorities citing no evidence of a crime, leading many to believe at the time that Rimma Beletskaya had run away with her children.
