Russia downs over 300 Ukrainian drones, seven HIMARS missiles In 24 hours
The Russian Ministry of Defence has reported the destruction of hundreds of Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles over the past day.
According to a military briefing, Russian air defence systems intercepted 312 drones operated by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Caliber.Az reports.
In addition, Russian forces claimed to have shot down seven HIMARS rockets during the same period.
Russia's air defence strategy relies on a layered system of advanced platforms, including the S-400 and S-500 missile systems, designed to counter a wide range of aerial threats.
The S-500, an experimental system, has been deployed in Crimea to protect critical infrastructure, such as the Kerch Bridge, and to defend against potential hypersonic threats.
Additionally, Russia has stationed its Pantsir-S1 systems closer to the Ukrainian border to bolster defences against low-flying targets.
Despite these advancements, Russia faces challenges in adapting to the evolving threat landscape, including the increasing use of drones and missiles by Ukrainian forces.
