Russia expresses readiness to facilitate border delimitation between Armenia, Azerbaijan
Russia has reiterated its willingness to assist both Azerbaijan and Armenia in efforts to normalise relations and facilitate the delimitation of their shared border.
Speaking at a briefing, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova emphasised that the agreements reached between the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia in 2020 remain fully relevant, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“We repeat this every week when answering questions,” Zakharova said. “The swift resumption of comprehensive multilateral engagement would, of course, contribute to lasting peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus.”
Zakharova noted that positive progress has been achieved through a trilateral working group co-chaired by the deputy prime ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia, particularly on reopening regional transport and economic links.
“We are ready to share our expertise in border delimitation and demarcation. I believe our specialists are considered among the best in the post-Soviet space,” she added. “We also possess unique cartographic resources and are prepared to assist with resolving longstanding humanitarian issues stemming from the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.”
Zakharova reiterated Moscow’s commitment to supporting both countries across all key areas of reconciliation.
“We are always glad to help our Azerbaijani and Armenian friends move forward in the normalisation process,” she said.
