Russia extends use of Euro-2 to Euro-4 gasoline until 2027
06 August 2026 09:24
The Russian government has approved a measure allowing the production, import and sale of gasoline meeting Euro-2, Euro-3 and Euro-4 environmental standards until July 1, 2027, the Energy Ministry said.
Under the new rules, fuel retailers will be required to display information on the environmental classification of gasoline at filling stations, enabling consumers to make informed choices.
The resolution also revokes an earlier provision that had permitted the circulation of Euro-5 gasoline with elevated sulfur content through the end of 2026.
The Energy Ministry said the measure is temporary and is intended to ensure stable fuel supplies and prevent shortages amid shifting logistics chains and technological constraints.
