Russia eyes Azerbaijan as potential EAEU bank shareholder — official
Russia is ready to help Azerbaijan move closer to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and would like to see the country among the shareholders of the Eurasian Development Bank, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said.
Galuzin made the remarks at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“We are ready to fully facilitate Azerbaijan’s rapprochement with this integration association (EAEU), as in our view it would contribute to further strengthening the already established economic ties within our shared Eurasian space,” the deputy minister said.
He added that such cooperation would also have a positive impact on Azerbaijan’s economy, providing access to the benefits of a common market for goods and expanding opportunities in transport, services, and investment.
“We would like to see Azerbaijan among the shareholders of the Eurasian Development Bank and believe that such a step would open the way for financing major projects in the republic using the bank’s resources,” Galuzin noted.
