Russia: Fire reported at Yaroslavl oil refinery following overnight attack PHOTO / VIDEO
A fire broke out at the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery in Russia’s Yaroslavl region following an overnight attack on May 8, according to local residents and open-source intelligence reports.
Eyewitness footage from the scene was geolocated and analysed by OSINT analyst ASTRA, who stated that the strike resulted in a fire at the refinery facility.
The Slavneft-YANOS refinery is a fuel and lubricants processing plant and is considered one of the largest oil refining facilities in Russia in terms of hydrocarbon processing capacity. It is also described as the largest refinery in the Central Federal District and among the top five in the country.
The facility had previously been reported as having been targeted in similar incidents in late April.
Slavneft-YANOS is part of the Slavneft company, which is jointly controlled by Russia’s state-linked energy firms Rosneft and Gazprom.
