Russia: Gas explosion in Angarsk apartment building kills one, injures three PHOTO
A gas explosion in a multi-story apartment building in Angarsk, Irkutsk Region, killed a man, whose body was found by Russian Emergency Ministry personnel, according to the ministry's Telegram channel.
“While clearing the debris, the Emergency Ministry officers discovered a 56-year-old man with no signs of life,” the statement said, Caliber.Az reports.
Three other people were injured in the blast. A 40-year-old man and his 12-year-old daughter were hospitalised.
The gas explosion occurred in the 12th microdistrict overnight on September 15. Seventy-nine residents, including 12 children, evacuated the building on their own. Windows on the first floor were blown out, but no fire broke out.
The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code for providing services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in a person’s death. Those found guilty could face up to six years in prison.
