Russia imports record number of cars in July
Russia imported nearly 95,000 passenger cars in July, marking the highest monthly volume since the beginning of 2026.
The figure includes both new and used vehicles, Caliber.Az reports, citing Autostat.
Imports of new passenger cars reached 44,400 units, up 57% year-on-year.
Chinese automaker Changan was the most imported brand, while the Geely Cityray crossover topped the model rankings.
The used car segment totalled 50,500 imported vehicles, a 7% increase compared with July 2025.
Japanese manufacturers continued to dominate the market, with Toyota ranking as the leading brand and the Toyota Corolla remaining the most imported model.
China remained the main source of new vehicle imports, accounting for 73.6% of the total in July.
In addition to Chinese-made cars, the country also serves as a production hub for European brands such as Audi, Skoda and Volkswagen.
Kyrgyzstan ranked second with a 14.7% share, followed by Japan at 3.2%.
Japan also led imports of used vehicles with a 59.5% share, followed by China at 24% and South Korea at 7.6% of total imports.
