Russia investigates therapist over abuse of minors
Authorities in Russia have launched a criminal investigation after a 49-year-old neuropsychologist was detained in Vladikavkaz on suspicion of sexual abuse involving young children.
According to local media outlet Sapa 15, the case came to light after two mothers of boys aged five and six reported concerns to the police. One child disclosed the alleged abuse several months after it occurred, while the other mother became alarmed by noticeable changes in her son’s behaviour. Both children had been attending sessions with the same specialist.
The suspect reportedly insisted that parents should not be present during sessions, arguing that their absence made the treatment more effective. Investigators say the man also instructed the children not to speak about what was happening.
He has been detained, has given a confession, and is now under investigation in a criminal case involving sexual violence against minors. Authorities have indicated that the number of victims may be higher, and the investigation remains ongoing.
