Russia, Iran to address nuclear program and regional cooperation in Moscow talks
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to pay an official visit to Moscow on December 17, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the visit, Araghchi will hold talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The discussions are expected to focus on key international issues, including the situation surrounding Iran’s nuclear program, as well as regional matters of mutual interest.
Earlier, on December 7, it was reported that Araghchi plans to visit both Moscow and Minsk as part of ongoing consultations, during which he intends to hold negotiations with the authorities of Russia and Belarus.
In a related development, Iranian Minister of Agriculture Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh travelled to Moscow on November 26 for talks with Russian Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut. The sides discussed expanding supplies, launching joint projects, and developing trade and economic cooperation in the agricultural sector.
The Kremlin has previously noted the dynamic development of cooperation between Russia and Iran. Both countries maintain an active high-level political dialogue, and such official visits have become a regular practice. The Russian Foreign Ministry said the upcoming meetings are also expected to address broader issues of bilateral cooperation and the coordination of positions on major international challenges.
