Russia, Kyrgyzstan agree on simplified travel rules for citizens
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has signed an order approving an agreement with Kyrgyzstan on the travel regime for citizens of the two countries.
The document has been published on the official Russian legal information portal, according to Caliber.Az.
The order states: "Accept the proposal of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, coordinated with the relevant federal executive authorities and preliminarily discussed with the Kyrgyz side, to conclude, through an exchange of notes, an agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic on the travel regime for citizens of the Russian Federation and citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic."
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been tasked with carrying out the exchange of notes between the two governments.
Under the draft agreement, Russian citizens travelling between Russia and Kyrgyzstan may use their internal or international passports, as well as diplomatic and service passports, or a certificate for entry (return) to Russia. Kyrgyz citizens may travel using their passport, ID card, diplomatic or service passports, seafarer’s passport, or a certificate for return to the republic.
The new rules aim to simplify travel between the two countries while maintaining proper identification and documentation procedures for citizens on both sides.
