Russia launches 322 drones, missiles in overnight assault on Ukraine
Russian forces launched 322 drones and missiles across Ukraine overnight on June 10, with the capital, Kyiv, bearing the brunt of the attack.
According to Ukraine's Air Force, the majority of the aerial weapons—315 Shahed-type attack drones and decoy UAVs—were directed at Kyiv and surrounding regions. Additional weapons included two KN-23 ballistic missiles and five Iskander-K cruise missiles, Caliber.Az reports via Ukrainian media.
Ukrainian air defence systems successfully neutralised 284 of the threats. Of those, 213 were Shahed drones and other UAVs, two were KN-23 ballistic missiles, and five were Iskander-K cruise missiles. Another 64 drones were neutralised by electronic warfare or crashed in unknown locations.
Kyiv experienced fires and destruction in seven of its districts, with civilian injuries reported. The city endured sustained drone raids throughout the night, targeting infrastructure and residential areas.
According to the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, it was a “difficult night, but thanks to the incredible efforts of Ukraine's Defence Forces, casualties were minimised.”
In total, strikes were recorded in 11 locations, and debris fell in 16. Fires broke out in 19 areas, four of which were still being extinguished by morning.
Odesa also suffered significant damage during the attack. Two people were killed, and nine others were injured. Facilities hit included a maternity hospital, an emergency medical station, a private clinic, a sports complex, the city zoo, and the main train station.
