Russia launches strikes on Ukraine’s key military targets, defence ministry says

The Russian Ministry of Defence said the country’s armed forces reportedly carried out extensive strikes on targets in Ukraine between January 17 and 23, 2026, citing attacks on Russian civilian sites as justification.

The ministry stated that the strikes hit Ukrainian military-industrial facilities, energy and transport infrastructure used by the armed forces, ammunition and fuel depots, production workshops, and sites for preparing and launching long-range drones, Caliber.Az reports.

Temporary deployment points of Ukrainian military units and foreign fighters were also targeted.
