Official: Russia made concrete proposal to resume direct flights with US
Russia has put forward specific proposals to the United States for the resumption of direct air travel, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
When asked whether direct flights between Russia and the US could resume this year, Zakharova emphasised that the initiative is pragmatic and driven by public demand, rather than a political agenda, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“Currently, travelling from one side to the other takes about a day, including transfers and connections. Previously, this journey took just nine hours and was convenient for everyone,” she said on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).
Zakharova added that while the proposal has been made, work is needed to implement it.
She added that she cannot yet say when direct flights will resume, but “will definitely share the information once she finds out.”
