Russia may recognise gas station lines as an excuse for workplace delays

Long queues at gas stations may become a valid reason for employees being late to work, according to the communications department of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia (FNPR), as cited by TASS.

Experts explained that multi-kilometer queues at fuel stations, along with cancelled public transport services and urgent medical visits, may be considered emergency or force majeure circumstances.

However, Russian workers were urged to notify their employers about any delay in advance and provide the reason for being late.

The department added that employers may request documents or other evidence confirming the force majeure circumstances that caused the delay.
