Russia offers assistance to Iran, US in nuclear agreement negotiations
Russia has expressed its willingness to assist Iran and the United States in reaching a consensus on their ongoing nuclear agreement discussions, contingent on the agreement of all parties involved.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko made the announcement during a visit to Tehran, where he held meetings with Iranian Foreign Ministry officials, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“Our Iranian friends briefed us on the current stage of the negotiations, and they hope that it will still be possible to reach an agreement satisfactory to all. We welcomed this attitude and once again declared our readiness, if all parties and participants in the negotiations agree, to offer our services that could help reach a consensus,” Rudenko stated.
The Russian official emphasized that Moscow is hopeful for a positive outcome from the ongoing talks between Tehran and Washington, aiming for agreements that would be mutually beneficial for both sides. Rudenko further acknowledged the broader regional implications of US-Iran relations, noting that any developments would influence regional stability, a situation Moscow hopes to see remain secure.
In his remarks, Rudenko made it clear that Russia is prepared to play a role in the Iran-US agreement not only as a mediator but also in offering assistance in various aspects of the agreement's implementation. “Russia during the previous nuclear deal also provided assistance to facilitate certain aspects of the implementation of this agreement, so there are different options,” he said.
