Russia, Pakistan seek new payment methods as Western sanctions bite

Russia and Pakistan are continuing to expand trade relations despite Western sanctions, while seeking alternative mechanisms for conducting payments, Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Albert Khorev said at the “Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum.”

The diplomat noted that Western sanctions against Russia were aimed at restricting settlement mechanisms for trade operations, according to Russian media.

“Nevertheless, the business communities of our countries are finding ways to maintain trade contacts, while the relevant authorities continue joint work to identify alternative payment methods,” Khorev emphasised.
