Russia regrets Armenia's NATO summit participation, warns of destabilization
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin expressed deep regret over Armenia's participation in the NATO summit, calling it extremely regrettable for Russia.
Galuzin stated that Yerevan has strayed from a constructive approach to addressing issues, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
"Regarding the security sphere, I would like to emphasize that Armenia remains a member of the CSTO and is a party to numerous bilateral agreements in the military and military-technical spheres," said Galuzin. "Instead of a constructive approach to discussing Yerevan's concerns, it has unfortunately chosen a different path."
He noted that Armenia is increasingly engaging with NATO or its individual members, participating in the summit, implementing NATO standards, purchasing weapons, or conducting joint military exercises. Galuzin criticized this as an attempt to "sit on two chairs."
The Deputy Foreign Minister warned that deepening cooperation between Armenia and NATO could destabilize the situation in the South Caucasus.
