Russia rejects claims of sanctions bargain with US
Kirill Dmitriev, Chief Executive Officer of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), has categorically dismissed as unfounded a report by The Economist alleging that Moscow proposed joint projects with the United States in return for sanctions relief.
Dmitriev described the claims as “fake” and emphasized that any potential easing of sanctions would be driven solely by American interests, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
He argued that US companies that exited the Russian market have suffered losses exceeding $300 billion.
The rebuttal follows a report by The Economist stating that American legal experts had drafted several options for lifting sanctions on Russia in response to what the publication described as Moscow’s promise to conclude a $12 trillion deal with the United States.
