Russia rejects US calls not to “play games with President Trump"

Alexei Chepa, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, has said that Russia is not engaging in political games following a recent statement from the US State Department.

Earlier, the US department shared an image featuring President Donald Trump, accompanied by the caption, "Don’t play games with President Trump." The post was also shared on the US State Department's Russian-language account, includinf the same message in Russian. 

In an interview with Russian media, Chepa reaffirmed that Russia’s position remains consistent and that the country is acting in line with its previous statements made during Alaska summit. He emphasised that Moscow is adhering to the positions it outlined earlier, despite what he characterised as some "US claims that Russia is playing political games."

Chepa specifically referenced an earlier statement made by Russia regarding an attack on president's residence, clarifying that hours after Russia’s announcement, the CIA publicly denied having information about the incident.

He asserted that the attack would have been impossible without the involvement of special services, and stressed that Russia’s stance on the situation had not wavered.
