Russia repels night drone offensive, reporting 26 UAVs destroyed
Overnight, Russian air defence units intercepted and destroyed 26 Ukrainian drones targeting multiple regions, the Russian Ministry of Defence announced.
According to the ministry, 15 drones were downed over the Rostov region, four over the Oryol region, three over the Belgorod region, and two each over the Bryansk and Kursk regions.
Acting Governor of the Rostov region Yuri Slyusar stated that the drones in the Rostov region were shot down over Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog, Novoshakhtinsk, and the districts of Neklinovsky, Myasnikovsky, Millerovsky, and Chertkovsky.
In the Neklinovsky district, the villages of Novobessergenevka and Botsmanovo reported damage from falling debris, which struck the facades, roofs, and gates of several private homes, and also damaged a car. In Novoshakhtinsk, fragments of a drone landed in the courtyard of a private house.
Late in the evening on August 26, a drone struck the roof of a four-story apartment building in Rostov-on-Don, triggering an explosion and a fire that spread across 250 square meters. Fifteen residents were evacuated from the building following the incident.
In Belgorod, a drone attack was also reported by Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov. He said that the drone’s detonation damaged the road surface and shattered windows in three apartments located in two residential buildings.
