Russia reports overnight interception of nearly 180 Ukrainian drones

Russia's air defence forces intercepted and destroyed 179 Ukrainian drones during an overnight operation, the Russian Defence Ministry said.

According to the ministry, the drones were shot down between 9:00 p.m. Moscow time on June 30 and 8:00 a.m. on July 1.

In a statement, the ministry said the intercepted fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles were detected over the Astrakhan, Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Kaluga, Kursk, Oryol, Penza, Rostov, Saratov, Samara, Tver, and Ulyanovsk regions, as well as the Krasnodar and Stavropol territories, the Moscow region, the Republic of Crimea, and the waters of the Azov and Black seas.
