Russia restricts flights at two airports due to UAV threat
13 September 2025 10:13
Flight operations at Samara and Saratov airports have been temporarily restricted due to security concerns, according to a statement from Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya).
The agency stated that the measures were implemented to ensure flight safety. While no specific threat was officially confirmed, such restrictions are typically enacted in response to potential risks from unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks, Caliber.Az reports.
The suspension affects both arrivals and departures and follows a pattern seen in previous instances where airspace closures were linked to drone-related threats near critical infrastructure.
No timeline has been given for when the restrictions will be lifted.
