Russia's Belgorod region reports heavy losses from Ukrainian attacks
The Belgorod region has suffered significant losses since the start of 2026 as a result of attacks attributed to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, regional authorities said.
Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov stated on Telegram that Ukrainian strikes in border areas since January have killed 35 civilians and injured another 239 people. He added that casualties have also been recorded among members of the BARS-Belgorod and Orlan units.
“We have enormous losses (…) nearly a threefold increase compared with 2025. The number of damaged vehicles has doubled. The number of damaged and destroyed homes has remained at the same level — more than one thousand,” Gladkov said.
According to the governor, the operational situation in the region remains крайне difficult, with security conditions continuing to pose serious challenges.
