Russian authorities have detained Azerbaijani citizen Ruslan Mammadov in Perm on suspicion of offering or promising to act as an intermediary in bribery, according to Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB).
Investigators noted that Mammadov, described as one of the leaders of the Azerbaijani diaspora, offered to have a criminal case against a Perm resident dropped in exchange for bribes to law enforcement officers, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
The FSB said Mammadov has been banned from entering Russia for 50 years, until June 2076.
On August 17, the head of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Moscow, Bakhtiyar Hasanov, was deported from Russia after previously being stripped of his Russian citizenship.
