Russia’s Federal Security Service warns of growing military threat from NATO
Head of Russia’s Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov has said that NATO is actively expanding its presence in the Arctic region and the Baltic Sea, while also seeking access to the Caspian Sea.
"The NATO is consolidating its position at the borders of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, rapidly expanding into the Arctic and Baltic regions, seeking to enhance its combat, intelligence, and logistical capabilities in the Black Sea, and exploring ways to gain access to the Caspian Sea," Bortnikov, who is also the chairman of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of the CIS member states, noted, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
He added that the military threat posed by the NATO is "steadily increasing".
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that NATO had discarded all decorum by discussing the possibility of launching preemptive strikes on Russian territory.
