Seven arrested in ongoing probe into 2020 Yerevan riots
Armenian authorities have announced the arrest of seven new suspects in connection with the 10 November 2020 riots that erupted in Yerevan.
According to the Investigative Committee, the arrests were made as part of a joint operation with the National Security Service. The suspects were identified during the course of the ongoing investigation and have since been taken into custody, Caliber.Az cites Armenian media.
Officials have submitted a request to the court to impose pre-trial surveillance measures on the detainees.
During the riots, outraged protesters stormed key government buildings, including the parliament and the prime minister’s office. These individuals called for the violent overthrow of the constitutional order and attempted to exert pressure on the National Assembly and the government.
