Russia’s FSB detains minors over alleged terror plot

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said it had detained three teenagers in the Primorsky region who were allegedly preparing a terrorist attack on a facility belonging to the National Guard, acting on instructions from a banned organisation.

The FSB’s Public Relations Centre said the suspects, minors from the cities of Nakhodka and Vladivostok, had been collecting intelligence on law enforcement personnel involved in what Moscow calls its “special military operation.”

According to the agency, the teenagers filmed the homes and workplaces of servicemen, along with their vehicles and parking locations, and sought out sites to conceal explosive devices “with the aim of carrying out a sabotage-terrorist act at one of the Rosgvardiya facilities.”

Criminal cases have been opened against the suspects.

“During searches conducted at the places of residence of the defendants in the criminal case, components necessary for the manufacture of improvised incendiary devices, as well as items and documents relevant to the investigation, were seized,” the FSB said.

The detainees have been remanded in custody, have admitted guilt and are “actively cooperating with the investigation,” the agency added.
