17 February 2026 09:04
Explosions were heard in the sky over Izhevsk, the capital of Russia’s Udmurt Republic, according to the Telegram channel SHOT.
Residents reported between five and six blasts over one of the city’s outskirts. The sounds reportedly began around 5:00 a.m. Moscow time.
“Air defence systems are operating at this moment, and eyewitnesses report bright flashes in the sky,” the publication said.
On February 17, early in the morning, Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency announced via Telegram that temporary restrictions were introduced at Izhevsk Airport on flight arrivals and departures.
