Russia’s security chief: West disrupted Istanbul agreements on Ukraine
17 June 2026 13:34
Russia’s Secretary of the Security Council, Sergey Shoigu, has claimed that Western countries disrupted the 2022 Istanbul agreements on Ukraine, despite efforts by Moscow and Ankara to ensure their implementation.
During a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Shoigu said at that time, the Istanbul agreement was prepared through joint efforts, and if it had not been for interference from the West, they would have had every opportunity to complete this work, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
He noted that both Russia and Türkiye had done everything necessary at the time to prepare the agreement and enable its implementation.
