Russia’s Security Council flags South Caucasus as region of concern
Russia’s Security Council has said the situation in the South Caucasus requires close attention, amid discussions on regional cooperation and security dynamics across the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
The assessment was made during a meeting of the Scientific and Expert Council of the CIS Committee held under the Russian Security Council, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
The session focused on the development of Russia’s relations with South Caucasus states and broader regional engagement.
Opening the meeting, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council Alexey Shevtsov said the current situation in the South Caucasus demanded sustained attention, stressing that regional challenges should be addressed through regionally driven solutions, according to the Security Council’s press service.
