Russia’s security service seizes over 311 kg of cocaine bound for EU

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained an alleged organiser of a drug trafficking operation from Russia to the European Union in the Moscow Region, seizing 311.6 kilograms of cocaine, the FSB’s Public Relations Centre reports.

“The illegal activities of a Russian citizen born in 2001, who was involved in organising an international smuggling channel for the supply of especially large quantities of cocaine from Latin America to European Union countries for subsequent illegal sale, have been thwarted,” the agency said.

The man, who was officially unemployed, was identified during operational and investigative activities. He was subsequently caught red-handed with 311.6 kilograms of cocaine and taken into custody.

A criminal case was opened against the alleged drug trafficker, while FSB officers continued their investigation.
