Russia claims air defence shot down nine Ukrainian drones overnight

Russia’s air defence systems shot down nine Ukrainian drones overnight between January 28 and 29, the Russian Ministry of Defence said.

In a statement published on the ministry’s Telegram channel, the defence ministry said the drones were intercepted over several Russian regions, including the Rostov, Bryansk and Voronezh regions, as well as Crimea.

According to the statement, the largest number of drones—four—were downed over the Rostov region.

The ministry added that all the intercepted drones were of the fixed-wing type.
