Russia says air defences down 94 drones overnight
Russia’s air defence forces intercepted and destroyed 94 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) overnight, the Ministry of Defence said on December 17.
According to the ministry, 31 fixed-wing drones were shot down over Krasnodar Krai. A further 22 UAVs were intercepted over Rostov Region, 10 over Voronezh Region, eight each over Saratov Region and the waters of the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea, four over Volgograd Region, and three over Bryansk Region.
Regional authorities reported limited damage and casualties. In Slavyansk District of Krasnodar Krai, two people were injured and at least five private homes were damaged during a drone attack. In Voronezh Region, falling drone debris caused a fire on a power line at an infrastructure facility; the blaze was quickly extinguished. Officials in Bryansk Region said there were no casualties or damage on the ground.
Authorities in the remaining regions affected by the overnight attacks have not yet issued comments.
